Sweet Pea Digs the Safety of the MASH Unit

When Sweet Pea had her teeth removed, she needed to stay away from dry food for 2 weeks so her sutured gums could heal. She spent a week in the MASH unit, got her medication and was able to have a quiet place to mend. While she was in the MASH unit, the rest of the cats had access to dry food as usual. I thought I would split the burden and let her out for the 2nd week and lift the dry food in the house.

She and I had a good chat and I opened the door and left it open. It took her about 3 hours before leaving and then she went out to the cat tree in the catio. It's been beautiful weather and I was pleased for her to be relaxing in the breeze. I took the MASH unit apart, sterilized and washed everything to get ready for the next cat- an abandoned Domestic at an Retirement Community who's being primed for trapping.

Later in the evening I noticed Sweet Pea trying to get back into the kennel. She wanted back in! I put it back together with the items that had not yet made it into the washing machine and in she went. Up to the top level, tucked into her fuzzy bed.

I had been feeling sorry her movements were restricted and she was enjoying her private hideaway. There's always so much more for me to learn. I'll see what happens over the next few days. Hopefully, she'll be ready to transition soon but I'll have to let that be her call. No litter box or bowls this time but the door remains open and she has company
